My Purpose Driven Life
Hbr 3:12
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Hbr 3:13
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Hbr 3:14
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
Hbr 3:15
While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
A few months ago I got the book The Purpose Driven Life. My husband and I were on our way home and I was too anxious to start reading it, so I started reading it on the way home. I got past the first few pages and then stopped because I came to the page that says "My Covenant". Which brings me to tell you the reason why I haven't read the book yet, and the purpose of my blog for today.
"My Covenant" that I will sign says, "With God's help, I commit the next 40 days of my life to discovering God's purpose for my life." There is a place for me to sign my name AND a place for my partner's name. I thought by now I would have found someone to read the book with me, but for some reason, just like other things in my life, it kinda fell through the cracks.
Yesterday, I said that I wanted to blog something everyday. I feel it's important to try to encourage each other every day, not just every once in a while. Last night as I was trying to think of something to start blogging so that I could post it today, I only had the scripture above and I knew what it meant to me, but I was having a hard time expressing it in words. Today when I sat down to try it again, still no words would come to me. Then I remembered the book.
A week from today, I'm going to start reading the book. Hopefully, I will have several "partner's" reading it with me. It's not an expensive book, I got a hardback copy for less than $20. If you want to read this book with me, please post a comment or just your name. I will sign all of your names, as well as my own, on "My Covenant" in the front of my book and you can sign my name for me in your book.
"Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up...Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break." Ecclesiastes 4:9 (TEV)
Ecc 4:9
Two [are] better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
Ecc 4:10
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him [that is] alone when he falleth; for [he hath] not another to help him up.
Ecc 4:11
Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm [alone]?
Ecc 4:12
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
